Harpers Mill Named 50 Best

We have always thought our Harpers Mill community was one of the absolute best.

But this week, this premier master-planned community in Chesterfield got the formal recognition it has deserved all along! On Tuesday, Harpers Mill was recognized by Where to Retire in the magazine’s “The Short List: 50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the United States.”

“Moving after retirement doesn’t mean just a new home; it means a new life,” said Annette Fuller, Where to Retire Editor.  “Yes, each of our 50 communities builds attractive homes, but they also nurture new friendships. Most developments offer trails, sports courts, fitness equipment, restaurants, pools, and more. The settings are gorgeous, near mountains, oceans, rivers, lakes, and low-humidity deserts. Climates generally are mild, allowing daily communes with nature.”

These 50 best master-planned communities represent a variety of housing options and amenities that we, and the folks at Where to Retire, think homeowners are dreaming of! This best-of list features first-person testimonials by current residents supporting our belief! The evaluation process began nearly a year ago, with editors choosing only established neighborhoods with enough acreage to build at least a year’s supply of homes.  The 50 communities come from 17 states nationwide.

Even within Harpers Mill, we have a variety of floorplans to choose from within our three distinct neighborhoods. We describe them in our blog “At Home in Harpers Mill.”

Harpers Mill is on 1,200 acres, with more than 240 acres preserved for open space. Homeowners can visit four parks and even more pocket parks for some serenity in a peaceful setting. The amenities in this community are incredible, with an Olympic-size swimming pool with a water slide and fountain, a splash park, a zero-entry area, a Hobbit-themed playground, and a sports complex. The paved trails cover five miles within the community through woodlands and green spaces. A dog park is also planned. An activity lawn that hosts cornhole competitions, family picnics, and community events.

Homeowners also have all the conveniences they need nearby with shopping at Short Pump Towncenter and Stony Point Fashion Park, restaurants (including one proposed for inside the community), and more! Hull Street corridor is only 4 miles west of Route 288 off Otterdale Road. Pocahontas State Park is nearby, too, as are golf courses and a movie theater.
