Nestled in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, Dawsonville offers a slower pace, beautiful scenery, and a strong sense of community that keeps people coming back. At Eastwood Homes, we’re proud to build in the heart of this growing North Georgia destination at Villas at Dawsonville and Arbor West, where homeowners can choose between single-family and townhome living close to everything that makes Dawsonville special.
We caught up with Cassie, one of our New Home Specialists (and a proud Dawsonville resident!), to hear what she loves most about living here.
“I love the small-town feel Dawsonville still has. You run into familiar faces everywhere, and people are genuinely friendly.”
From mountain views and local wineries to community events and great restaurants, it’s easy to see why more people are falling in love with Dawsonville every day, and why Villas at Dawsonville could be the perfect place for your next chapter.
One of the things Cassie says residents love most about Dawsonville is how it balances growth with that close-knit community feeling. “One of the best things about Dawsonville is that you still get that small-town feel while having all the shopping, restaurants, and everyday conveniences you need nearby.” Between local boutiques, the North Georgia Premium Outlets, and stores like Publix, Kroger, and Food Lion nearby, residents don’t have to travel far for everyday essentials. Dawsonville continues to grow while still feeling welcoming and connected.
Cassie also notes that many people relocating to the area appreciate the lower property taxes compared to surrounding cities, along with newer additions like OneLife Fitness that continue to bring even more draw to the community.
Dawsonville has become a fantastic destination for local dining, breweries, and laid-back gathering spots. Cassie says NoFo Brew Co. is one of the places she recommends most often. “NoFo Brew Co. is always busy and has a really fun atmosphere. It’s also dog-friendly, which people love.”
Other local favorites include:
Wild Wing Cafe is another community favorite, especially for families and groups of friends. “They do fun bingo nights, karaoke nights, and events throughout the week that are always a hit. It’s a fun way to get out with family or friends, have a good time, and maybe even win a little money.”
For outdoor lovers, Dawsonville offers various opportunities to get outside and enjoy the beauty of North Georgia. One of Cassie’s favorite places in town is Main Street Park. “They do Food Truck Fridays, concerts, movies on the green, farmers markets, and community events throughout the year. There’s always something going on, and it really brings people together.”
From local parks and hiking trails to nearby waterfalls and mountain views, Dawsonville makes it easy to stay active year-round.
One of the things that makes Dawsonville special is the variety of unique local destinations nearby. Cassie says Montaluce Winery is one of her favorite places to recommend to both locals and newcomers. “Montaluce Winery is one of my favorite places to recommend for a date night or when people come into town. The scenery is beautiful, and it feels like a little getaway without going far.”
Another favorite is The Lodge at Amicalola Falls. “The views overlooking the mountains are amazing, and it’s such a relaxing atmosphere.”
Downtown Dawsonville also brings the community together throughout the week. “Downtown Dawsonville is always fun, especially during the week when the BBQ food truck is out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It gives people a chance to gather, mingle, and just enjoy being outside.”
For seasonal fun, BJ Reece Orchards remains a local favorite year-round. “It’s fun year-round, not just during fall. They have a huge outdoor pavilion, and on the weekends, they’ll usually have live music and a food truck. It’s a really nice atmosphere to relax, hang out, and enjoy time with family and friends.”
For many buyers moving to Dawsonville, schools and educational opportunities are an important part of the decision. Cassie says the Dawson County Charter School System is a major draw for many families relocating to Dawsonville. For those seeking higher education, the University of North Georgia also offers several campuses in the area.
While Dawsonville offers peaceful mountain living, residents can still enjoy convenient access to Atlanta and surrounding cities. Located near GA-400, Dawsonville makes commuting and weekend travel simple while still allowing residents to come home to a quieter, more relaxed setting surrounded by the beauty of North Georgia. One of the things residents love most is how easy it is to get where they need to go while still enjoying a slower pace of life.
Dawsonville is also perfectly positioned for weekend adventures across North Georgia. Residents can easily spend the day exploring nearby mountain towns, wineries, hiking trails, and scenic destinations, including:
Whether you’re heading into the city for work or escaping to the mountains for the weekend, Dawsonville makes it easy to enjoy the best of both worlds.
