Eastwood Homes Gives Back

August 25, 2022

Eastwood Team volunteers at local elementary school

On Monday, Aug. 8, our Richmond Division volunteered at C.C. Wells Elementary School in Chester, Va., after administrators from the school reached out asking for assistance. The school was in need of a face lift, with classes starting soon and limited funding from grants and the PTA.

It was a team effort for the home builder, with 23 members from all departments including sales, construction, administrative, warranty, land, drafting, and management joining in the effort. The Eastwood team spent the day creating an outdoor classroom in a courtyard, landscaping the front flower bed, and painting 80 bulletin boards in orange, blue, yellow, and green. They also donated new picnic tables for the students and teachers to enjoy.

The team has a business connection with the local school. C.C. Wells Elementary serves as the school for one of Eastwood’s newest communities, Roberts Forest at Hidden Valley. But one team member has a personal tie to the school, as well.

“All three of my children, now ages 27, 22, and 19, attended this elementary school,” said Eastwood Homes Director of Sales Amy Druhot. “C.C. Wells is a school that truly cares about its students and their families. They treat the kids who attend as an extension of their own families. I always knew my children were loved, well taken care of, and received the best education while attending there. It felt so good to give back to a school who had given myself and my children so much.”

Eastwood Homes has been building single-family homes and townhomes in the Richmond market since 2014. In 2022, they were recognized by the Home Building Association of Richmond as the 4th largest builder based on closing volume in the Richmond market with 249 closed homes. They have also been helping their community during that time through endeavors like partnering with Toys for Tots to donate helmets and bikes to kids during the holiday season, volunteering at the local food bank “Feedmore” and The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree, and building home access ramps for those in need.

“The entire team was excited about giving back to a local school when the opportunity was presented,” Druhot said. “We knew the school needed assistance and that we could make an impact. However, I am not sure anyone realized what a tremendous impact it would make on our team. Working together to create beautiful learning spaces for the kids who attend C.C. Wells was incredible. Many team members said it was the best day they could remember in a while. Seeing how everyone stepped up and contributed was so heartwarming and was a true reflection of why at Eastwood Homes we say we are ‘Built With Care.’”
