For SouthPark, many drivers favor NC-51 (Matthews–Pineville Rd) or Sardis Rd/Fairview Rd corridors instead of I-485. For University City, Rocky River Rd → Back Creek Church Rd → Mallard Creek Church Rd/WT Harris is a common alternative to the beltway.
