Named for Henry, Prince of Wales, the eldest son of King James I of England and established in 1634, Henrico was one of the first shires, or counties in the region and included an area so vast, it later formed 10 separate Virginia counties in the Commonwealth!
Today, this unique area wraps around the greater Richmond, VA area from just to the northwest of Richmond to the southeast, almost like a semi-circle. Henrico is convenient to I-95, I-295, and I-64, making for easy access to all areas in Richmond and beyond, including the Richmond International Airport.
