There are many things to be thankful for this season and at Eastwood Homes, we’re thankful for the leadership of the Stewart family and their commitment to giving back to the community! Despite the recession in 2008, Eastwood Homes formed a partnership with the Levine Children’s Hospital, headquartered in Charlotte, NC. This was not an easy time for Eastwood, but the Stewart’s remained steadfast and we’re proud to say that since 2008, Eastwood Homes has remained committed to the hospital and growth in the Carolinas. For the year, Eastwood has donated over $100,000 to Levine!
There are three major components to the partnership. A portion of every home sold in the Charlotte area is donated to the hospital. Also, when an employee of the Carolinas Healthcare System purchases an Eastwood Home, an additional $500 donation is made in their honor!
The second partnership is the Eastwood Homes Hospitality Cart, which circulates 8 floors of the hospital. At no charge to the children and the families staying in the hospital, the cart is stocked with healthy snacks, coloring books, playing cards, reading materials, and toiletries! Both Eastwood and Levine understand the importance of hope, togetherness and comfort. At the hospital, there are several rooms dedicated to the comfort of the patients and their families, including laundry rooms! While someone is staying at the hospital, it’s comforting to know that they won’t have to worry about a toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo or a place to wash their clothes.
Just yesterday, the Eastwood team was invited for a tour of Levine and were asked to bring a few of the approved donated items for the hospitality cart. In true Eastwood fashion, our team was very generous with their donations and brought in numerous bags for the hospitality cart! Throughout the tour, we visited the outdoor garden, the rehabilitation therapy gym, and the NICU. It was a humbling experience to learn about all the amazing work and thought that has gone into one of the leading children’s hospitals in the region, and it’s right in our backyard! Check out the photo of our team on the left!
The third component of the partnership is the charity golf outing, which has become a highly anticipated tradition between our sales teams and vendor partners. It started off being a secondary component, but over the years, it has become our leading source of donations to the hospital. In 2017, we hosted our 5th annual golf tournament, and we graciously raised $75,000 thanks to our generous sponsors! (To learn more about the golf tournament, visit Our Company page!)
During our check presentation last week, we played “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, which was based off of Disney questions. (We won the game, so we must have been in touch with our inner child!) Afterwards, we were invited to play the popular “Just Dance” game in front of a green screen, which was aired to all the patient’s rooms throughout the hospital. Dancing along to “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction, we had a fun (hopefully) entertaining the kids!
As we look forward to 2018, we can’t wait to see where our partnership with Levine will go. We are truly honored to work for a company that cares about the community and supports such a worthy organization. To the Stewart family- thank you for your continued dedication and support to growth in the Carolinas!
We believe that Homecoming season has a lot to offer! There’s football, friendships, tailgates, rivalries, and more. There is nothing better than spending time with your friends and family, while cheering on your favorite sports team! Our favorite part of the season is the fun dishes that you make that quickly become a family tradition!
These pinwheels are perfect for tailgating, parties, or just because. It’s quick & easy, which is why they’re my go-to. Who doesn’t love bacon, cheese, and a little spice from the jalapenos?! An added bonus is that (at my house at least) I almost always have the ingredients on hand, if I need to make something in a pinch! It’s one of our favorites in my household, and I hope y’all enjoy them too!
